Welcome to DAP 2008

Welcome to Deepwater Asia-Pacific 2008 in Guangzhou, China. The theme of this year’s event, “Perform on the New Stage with Technical Innovation and Cooperation,” offers an unparalleled networking platform for cooperation in Asia-Pacific offshore exploration and production, and especially focuses on the latest developments in deepwater.

A mass of investment has been launched into deep offshore operations as the industry shifts to deeper water. Fuelled by strong economic growth and the growing thirst for oil and gas, Indonesia, Malaysia, India and China are rushing into deepwater, accounting for nearly 10% of deepwater Capex during 2008-2012.

Cooperation plays a significant role in Asia-Pacific deepwater development. The games between IOCs, NOCs and services companies attract lots of attention. The Oilfield services sector is facing unprecedented levels of business. To some extent, services companies partially supplant the big oil firms as technology providers and field operators. Strengthening cooperation among these parties is a critical factor that will maximize output in this region.

Deepwater Asia-Pacific 2008 is designed in response to the changing landscape of ongoing dynamics in Asia-Pacific deepwater. We are devoted to creating an international networking platform to explore the promising future of the Asia-Pacific deepwater sector by addressing the issues and challenges cost-effectively facing the practitioners involved in deepwater E&P.
